I wanted to better understand this and know if I'm going about it the wrong way.

So then power is only triggered by my OR.

  • Using an OR and entering two distinct signals as inputs (for example power_tablet and power_rs232) and whenever either one goes high it activates the real "power" signal I need.
  • Doubling all commands, so then I have separate digital signals such as "power" and "pwoer" and add those as separate triggers to the same command (such as adding two lines in my serial i/o that are identical but one is triggered by power and one by pwoer).
  • I understand that this is the case, but my question is: what is the common workaround for this issue. It happens often that I want to issue a command both from a touchpanel (for example) AND from an RS-232 feedback (or automatically at the start of the system, etc.) and it says that the digital signals I'm using cannot be jammed together (they are already being triggered by something else). I know that a digital signal such as "power" can be applied to multiple commands (such as send RS-232 commands, enable some SIOs, send some LAN commands, one-shot some relays etc.), but most of the times, I cannot seem to trigger my "power" from multiple locations. It's a simple question but I can't figure it out myself, and it bugs the hell out of me:
